Define Variable Data Import Fields

Explanation

This activity is used to define fields with information in a text file which will be imported as variable parameters into a variable data document. Defining fields for the variable data import ensures that the correct information is introduced to the system for further processing as there is no need to enter the data manually.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, a variable data import document is required to be registered in the system.

Procedure

1. Open the Constant Data Import window and find a constant data import document under which you want to import data.
2. In the Definition tab, create a new record in order to fill in parameters for the constant data parameter import. Note that any selected parameters must be filled as they comprise the import definition.
3. Select the column you want to import from an external information source in the Column Name field.
4. In the Position field, select a starting point for the constant data import.
5. In the Length field, specify the length of values (data string/number) which will be imported.
6. Save the information.
