Import Absences from an External File

Explanation

This activity is used to import employee absence data from an external text file into the Import Absences window.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, a proper import template has to be configured in the Import Template tab.

System Effects

As the result of this activity, a list of absence data will be imported from an external text file for further processing.

Procedure

  1. Open the Absence Import window.
  2. In the Absences tab, right click in the table and click Import From File to open the Absence Migration: Import From File dialog box.
  3. In the Import ID field, enter the name you want to give to your import. It will help to identify the import later on.
  4. In the Import Description field, enter the description of your import. It will help to identify the import later on.
  5. In the Abs Migration Tmpl ID field, use the list of values to select the proper import template for the external text file.
  6. The Template Name field will be automatically filled, depending on the template you chose in the Abs Migration Tmpl ID field.
  7. In the File Name field, specify the path to the file from which you want to import data. You can do that manually, or click the Browse button and navigate to the file.
  8. The Import Date field will fill automatically with the current system date. You can manually select a different date by double clicking on the field, and then selecting the desired date from the expandable calendar.
  9. Click Ok to import the data into the table.
  10. Click Save.
