Define Block Lines

Explanation

This activity is used to define lines with attributes in a created block. The lines store information while attributes are used for managing the document content and layout.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, a document template with a defined block is required to be registered in the system.

Procedure

  1. Open the Document Basic Data window and find a document with blocks in which lines and attributes can be defined.
  2. Go to the Block tab and find the block for which content needs defining. You can use the list of values in order to look for a number of already registered blocks.
  3. In the block, create a new record in order to define a new line with controlling attribute.
  4. Specify a unique ID for the line in the Attribute Id field.
  5. In the Line Order field, enter a sequence number which specifies the order of displaying the document content.
  6. Specify a sort of attribute in the Attribute Type field. The line content in the document can be a string value, a numerical value or a date.
  7. In the Length field, specify the maximum number of letters or digits for the attribute value.
  8. Specify the formatting for the attribute in the Wildcard field.
  9. In the Function field, select a function which provides the required content for the document.
  10. Save the information.
