An Application Server Task defines a middle tier handler operation that can be scheduled by the Database Scheduled Tasks functionality.
There are two pre-defined tasks: processing of Connectivity messages and Print Agent task. These are not scheduled using Database Scheduled Tasks functionality rather they are used as templates for creating new application messages.
