Changing Header & Footer in IFS Web Client
The header and the footer (the images on the top and bottom) in the portal or
the web forms are created to always cover the entire width of the browser
window, regardless if it is maximized or of a smaller size.
The header is basically built up by placing two
images, Corporate_Layer_Web_Header_Stretch.gif and Corporate_Layer_Web_Header_Right.gif after each other in a horizontal html table.
The
image at the right is fixed and the rest of the space is filled up with the Corporate_Layer_Web_Header_Stretch.gif. in the bottom the images at the left and
right corners are fixed and the remaining space is filled up by the center
image.
Some remarks regarding the Corporate_Layer_Web_Header_Stretch.gif .
- It must not be too wide, in the standard version it is only 1 pixel, it
should however not be a problem if it is a bit wider. Make sure to test it
with different window sizes!
- The image must be fit to be duplicated, typically (but not necessary)
one-color or striped.
Some other things to consider
- The images does not have to be of a specific height or width. (In the
attached example the heights of the header and footer are lower than in the
default images.) Of course all images in the header must have the same
height (as well as all images in the footer).
- The left hand image in the footer,Web_Footer_Left.gif , should be at least as
wide as the copyright text, otherwise there will be some empty space in the
footer. (It is recommended to have the bott1.jpg at least 460 pixels wide.)
- The right hand image in the footer,Web_Footer_Right.gif , should be at least as wide
as the ifslogo_bottom.gif, otherwise there will be some empty space to the
right in the footer. (It is recommended to have the bott1.jpg at least 178
pixels wide.)
- Remember that the default sizes have been used and tested quite a lot. To
be safe you should therefore not change the sizes too much.
example.htm is a simple example of how the
header and footer works.
To install new pictures on your web application the images should be placed
in /common/images. (Observe that if you have more than one site on your web
server, typically B2B and B2E, the changes must be done in both structures.)
